The finalist films determined by the preliminary jury and the festival program at the SineKültür Interuniversity Short Film Festival, which will be organized for the 5th time this year by IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema have been announced.
The "Alumni Panel" was held by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema in the 1G-05 multi-purpose seminar hall on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in order to help students shape their career plans and direct their future. Our graduates İrden Bölükbaş and Vuslat Vurucu, who attended the event as speakers, told our students about their career journeys and the contribution of the education they received in the department to this journey. Bölükbaş and Vurucu emphasized the importance of making the most of the opportunities offered by the school and being a student while they are students.
IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema organized a panel talk titled “Actor Management and Agenting in Cinema and Television.” The event, which was attended by Manager Buket Kahraman, Founder of Buket Kahraman Management, as a speaker, was held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 14.00 on the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.
The first screening in Türkiye of the short film “Passengers,” directed and scripted by Res. Assist. Buğra Mert Alkayalar, from IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, was held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Kadıköy Cinema within the scope of the selection of “Yıldız Cinema Festival” organized for the fifth time this year by Yıldız Technical University Yıldız Cinema Club.
IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema held an interview titled "Star System in Türkiye and Fikret Hakan" on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 13.00, in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in Ataköy building, with the presentation of Prof. Dr Nigar Pösteki.
Prof. Dr Nigar Pösteki talked about the roots of the star system based on Hollywood cinema and the way the system is applied in Turkish Cinema. The acting career and strong literary aspect of Fikret Hakan, one of the successful actors of Turkish cinema, were evaluated with examples from his films and books.
The short film "Station People", directed and written by Res. Assist. Buğra Mert Alkayalar from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, had its Turkey Premiere in "3rd. Kaş International Short Film Festival”. Alkayalar’s short film Station People will be competing in the "National Student Films" category.
Following the festival to be held in Antalya's Kaş district between 4-8 June 2024, the finalist films will be screened at Kadıköy Cinema on 12-13 June 2024, with the film crews attending the event.
Selin Horoz, one of our students from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, took part in the technical team of NOW TV's "ELECTION 2024" special broadcast for local elections on March 31, 2024.

Prof. Gizem Şimşek Kaya, from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, was the guest of the "Sunny Conversations with Güneş Batum" program broadcast on the National Channel on March 23, 2024, and the "Voice of Art" program presented by Mert Erdoğan on Radio Esenler on March 28, 2024. Scenarist Yeşim Çıtak, who has written the scripts of popular television series such as Erkenci kuş(2018), Menajerimi Ara (2020), Sen Çal Kapımı (2020), will be attending the "Scenario Writing in Film and TV Series" organization within the scope of "Film Language II" and "Film Language IV" courses. She met with our students from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at the workshop. The workshop was held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building, moderated by lecturer Özgür Balcı.
Mert Özercan, the cinematographer of the movie "Almost Entirely A Slight Disaster" (2023), which has received various awards from national and international film festivals and is available on the MUBI platform, attended the "Image Management" workshop held as a part of "Film Language II" and "Film Language IV" courses, and met with the students of the Department of Radio, Department of Television and Cinema.
