Department of Radioi Television and Cinema

Department of Radio Television and Cinema hosted SETEM (Professional Association of Cinema and Television Work Owners) Chairperson Director Mehmet Güleryüz, SETEM Honor Board Member Screenwriter Feza Sınar and SETEM Member Nazım Özdemir at the "4th My Work Educational Practices" seminar. In the seminar which was held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 10:00 in the 1G-05 multi-purpose hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, our students were informed about copyright violations and the points that the owners of the works should pay attention to.

The storybook titled "Birtakım Rivayetler" written by Res. Assist. Buğra Mert Alkayalar, one of the lecturers of IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, was published by Porsuk Kültür Publishing. The signing day of the book, which consists of stories written by Alkayalar in the genres of suspense, mystery and horror, was held in Eskişehir on Saturday, July 8.

Directed by Batuhan Çelik, one of our students from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, the feature film "Randevular,” which will soon be released in cinemas, was included in the Turkish Cinema 2023 catalogue organized in cooperation with the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Boğaziçi Culture and Art Foundation.

Emin Alper, who took his place among the prominent directors of today's cinema by receiving international awards at important film festivals in Türkiye and in the world, was the guest of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. The focus of the talk held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Tuesday, May 30, was the movie "Burning Days", which made its world premiere at the "Cannes Film Festival" in 2022 and became the center of many discussions due to the difficulties it faced during the production process as well as being a successful movie.

Master director and screenwriter Oğuzhan Tercan, who had been part of the faculty at Istanbul Kültür University for many years, was commemorated with a ceremony held with the participation of his students, colleagues and family members. Tercan, who has produced many popular films like “Uzlaşma”, “Hırsız Var!” and many commercials , has also lectured and trained countless students who have grown to be among the leading names of the sector. 

Organized by the IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema , the “4th  SineKültür Interuniversity Short Film Festival” was held in the Ataköy Campus between 22-24 May.

Öykü Develioğlu, a student of the Department of IKU Radio, Television and Cinema students, was selected to be a member of the Pre-Selection Jury for the "International Short Film" category of the 3rd International Dystopia Film Festival.  We congratulate our student, who had won the First Prize with their script named "Küllerin Nefesi" in the National Short Film Script Competition held last year, and wish them further success.

The two short films titled "Blackmail" and "The Exhibition", written and directed by Emir Aktel, a student of IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, have been made available to access on the BluTV digital platform. We congratulate our student and wish them further success.

The ceremonial event "Yedikule Anatolian High School 9th ​​Short Film Festival Award Ceremony", in which the films produced after the cinema training given as a part of the educational cooperation protocol signed between IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema and Yedikule Anatolian High School were screened and evaluated, was held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre on Thursday, April 27. In the ceremony, in which the faculty members of IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema acted as jury members, awards were given in 10 different categories.

Golden Orange Award-Winning Zeynep Koloğlu who worked as the production designer & art director on digital platforms such as Netflix, BluTV, Gain, Sıcak Kafa, Aşk 101, Fi, Terapist, and such, popular special productions and many feature films, television commercials and serials, met with our students from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema as part of the "Film Language II" course. Explaining comparatively the position of the production designer and art director in Türkiyeand different parts of the world, Koloğlu evaluated this area of ​​expertise w
